A Shepherd of Wolves

a shepherd of wolves

A debut thriller about a detective and a prolific serial killer, going back into the pasts of both men, showing the paths they took to eventually end up on an inevitable collision course.

In the town of St. Anna, South Carolina, Detective Raymond Wright comes across his most disturbing and baffling case when a serial killer begins leaving the remains of his male victims around the town. Born and raised in St. Anna, Raymond Wright has a special affinity for his hometown, and he is desperate to apprehend the murderer who is devastating the town. The person who is committing the crimes is Edmund Glass, and he is struggling to deal with what he considers to be a beast inside of him, something that is causing him to kill and commit cannibalism.

Detective Wright comes up in a time and place where racial tension is high. An unstable environment at home only adds difficulty to his childhood, yet he is still able to overcome the hardships to be in a position where he works to keep the residents of St. Anna safe. His latest case, however, makes him question the people around him, as he deals with a level of depravity he never imagined he would see.

The man Raymond is hunting for, Edmund Glass, comes from a seemingly normal background. Though he has always been a bit strange, frequently making people feel uncomfortable as a boy, no one suspects that Edmund is a savage killer who is holding an entire town captive as he deliberately leaves the remains of his victims around the area. At times, Edmund tries to fight what is driving him to kill, but he fails to get control of the deadly desire.

While they come from different backgrounds and operate on different sides of the law, Detective Wright and Edmund share a history in St. Anna, and they are bound to eventually meet, as one looks to keep collecting prey and the other aims to stop him.
